Montessori Curriculum
We are an authentic AMI accredited Montessori school. Dr. Maria Montessori founded the AMI organization (Association Montessori Internationale), herself in 1929. The AMI accreditation assures that teachers are properly trained, classrooms are fully equipped, and that the Montessori principles and methods are properly applied. AMI accreditation ensures an authentic Montessori experience!
Why are the preschool and elementary years so important? It is important to build a solid foundation that the child’s entire education can be built on.
Montessori classrooms provide a prepared environment where children are free to respond to their natural curiosity and desire to learn and grow. Through hands-on Montessori materials children gain a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of language, math, history, geography, all sciences, the arts, and more. Montessori children not only learn the answers, they learn how they got there and its relationship to everything else. Montessori children learn by doing, and become good at doing things.
Each child receives individualized instruction allowing them to go as far and as fast they can in each subject area. Children master each exercise through repetition as they move forward. Your child is no longer subjected to the one size fits all approach of traditional group based teaching.
Often a child’s natural curiosity leads them to want to explore a lesson beyond its initial design. In our Montessori classrooms that child is actually encouraged to expand their studies in any direction it might lead. Our entire community with its natural resources, businesses, museums, symphonies, etc. becomes an extension of the classroom.
